Truth Seekers!!! I have been absent for sometime due to work and a lack of internet access but now, I am back!! And today I am compelled to touch basis on the delicate subject of generation X and their fascination with inappropriate fashions(pants sagging below ones ass). When I was a kid, this trend was not yet predominant but evolving into what it is today, a standard of fashion particularly in the African American culture. My farther did not dress nor allow my brother or I to leave the house dressed in such a manner. My farther explained the origins of this demoralized fashion and for me, that was all it took to convince me not to cave into what was becoming popular. The origins of pants sagging started in prison; Belts were confiscated from inmates because belts could be utilized as a weapon but inmates were not given irregularly sized pants to cascade off of their back side. According to inmates, the lower your pants, the implication of that males sexuality. When the pants were on the waist and the inmate is spoken for(belonging to a certain inmate), the inmate has to grasp the dominate males shirt and follow him around consequently, if or when this is explained to the youth, you are ridiculed for attempting to educate them. Even this subtle but compelling FYI appeals to young African Americans as pure coincidence or none sense, “saggin” spelled backwards is “niggas”.  What is even more outrageous is how heterosexual men who dress this way hate to be presumed gay or profiled as a thug by law officials. Women who accept and encourage this behavior wonder why their boyfriends end up sleeping with their kids(girls or boys). Here is a clue. You allow this blatant disrespect around your kids. What can a 25 year old man(boy) with his pants sagging below his ass teach anyone? Yet, this is what an ignorant women finds appealing and they can not fathom how he claims to love her but have 10 other women in the process. It’s almost as if the brain’s common sense experiences crack head like symptoms of withdrawal from all of the tell tale signs. This is why educating yourself on the origins of something is important. If it commenced in prison, chances are, that’s the mind frame of the individual, and if they are participating in it due to the sake of fashion or acceptance, chances are, they stand for nothing and will fall for anything. Is this the minds you want leading your family? What’s disturbing enough is, in the African American community this is considered “the norm” and parents allow their young kids to dress this way, instilling in them, the “duck walk”. An awkward legs sprinted apart walk due to the absence of a belt. What’s also redundant is those who have a belt on but their pants somehow still fail to fit around their waist.  It sounds and looks very uncomfortable but if you’re a 30′ waist, why the hell would you purchase a 34′ waist size pants?…..Backwards thinking. I don’t like clothes too fitting but I, also don’t like clothes swallowing me, either. The new generation has absolute diminished morals and ethics. The value of conduct has completely waned in the African American community. It seems very easy to mentally manipulate our culture through entertainment or celebrities to embarrass ourselves with foolishness but when it comes to improving ourselves, we never want to get on board of that ship. Our ancestors whom fought vigorously for our freedom would be appalled by this self-mocking and self- deprecation. We are the reason we can not rise as a race because we are too busy trying to be “cool” and our interest lye in what outsiders perception of us is. There is nothing original about wearing your pants sagging off of your ass, it’s foolish and primitive. It’s time to wake up and grow up!
